# Deactivate Staff

## Before You Start

You need **Compliance Admin** access to edit staff records

## Steps

Go to [**Staff**](https://app.rtosafe.com.au/Staff) and select the staff member

Select **Edit** on their Personal Details

Uncheck the **Active** checkbox

Select **Save**

## What Happens Next

* They can't log in anymore — if they try, they'll see: _"Your staff access has been suspended. Please contact your administrator."_
* They move from **Current Staff** to **Previous Staff**
* All their records, documents, and history stay in the system
* You can reactivate them later by checking the **Active** box again (as long as you haven't hit your staff limit)

## Common Issues

Make sure you clicked **Save** after unchecking the Active box
