## Understanding Document Categories

There are three types of staff documents, each with different fields:

| Category                      | Purpose                                                                      | Key Fields                                                   |
| ----------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Expiring Credentials** | Documents that expire and need renewal (First Aid, WWCC, Police Checks) | Issue date, expiry date, issuing authority, reference number |
| **Non-Expiring Credentials** | Qualifications that don't expire (degrees, certificates, TAE qualifications) | Date awarded, issuing provider, reference number |
| **General Purpose Documents** | Everything else (resumes, contracts, references) | Document date only |

## Common Issues

<details>

<summary><strong>Can't edit a document type</strong></summary>

Some types are locked. Create a new type instead.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Need to remove a document type</strong></summary>

Archive it from the document types list — this hides it from new uploads but keeps existing documents.
