Create and Manage Non-accredited Units

Use non-accredited units for training your organisation creates, such as workplace inductions or product training. You can assign trainers and record professional development against them in RTOSafe.

These units belong to your organisation and aren’t shared with other RTOs. Adding one doesn’t make it nationally recognised training or add it to your registration on training.gov.au.

Switch On Non-accredited Units

In RTO Settings, open Non-Accredited Units and switch the option on. It’s off by default.

You’ll need permission to make changes to scope. If the controls aren’t available, ask your administrator to check your access profile.

Add a Unit

  1. Go to Scope and select Add Non-Accredited Unit.
  2. Enter your own Code and Title, with an optional Description explaining what the training covers. Choose a code that isn’t already used by another non-accredited unit in your organisation or an accredited training product.
  3. Select Add Unit.

The unit goes straight onto your active scope. You can now assign it to trainers and record PD against it.

Edit a Unit

Open the unit from Scope, then select Edit details from the three-dot menu at the top right. Update the code, title or description and select Save changes.

The description appears on Overview, and changes are recorded in History. You can edit your organisation’s own units, including ones a colleague created.

Stop Delivering a Unit

Open the unit’s three-dot menu and select Take off scope. It moves to Inactive Scope and no longer counts towards trainers’ competency obligations or currency benchmarks.

To use it again, open it from Inactive Scope and select Put back on scope.

Switching off non-accredited units in RTO Settings only prevents new units being added. It leaves existing units on scope.
